This rare Y2K Versace Lamborghini brings a whole new meaning to fast fashion

When two of Italy's most flamboyant institutions decided to collaborate, the result was always going to be spectacular. The Lamborghini Murciélago LP640-4 Versace Edition, one of just 20 ever produced, this rarity is available now through Amian Collection Cars.

Even by Sant'Agata's reliably outrageous standards, the Murciélago LP640-4 Versace Edition occupies a category all of its own — the product of a collaboration between two Italian institutions that have never once been accused of understatement, and whose combined brief here was essentially to take something already excessive and make it considerably more so.

Produced in an edition of just 20 examples, the LP640 Versace brought the fashion house's signature design language to one of the most dramatic road cars of the 2000s, wrapping its interior in the finest leathers, embroidered Versace motifs, and a level of craftsmanship that borders on theatrical. The execution is less interior design than it is costume, and it works precisely because neither party showed any interest in holding back. The cabin of this particular car presents in black and white leather with Versace stitching throughout — an aesthetic that manages, against most reasonable expectations, to feel cohesive rather than chaotic.

Beneath the dramatically sculpted bodywork, the LP640's 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 produces 640hp and dispatches 0–100km/h in around 3.4 seconds, on its way to a top speed that exceeds 340km/h. What the numbers can't quite convey, though, is the soundtrack — raw, operatic, and completely unconcerned with the feelings of anyone standing nearby, the kind of noise that makes modern turbocharged supercars feel a little apologetic by comparison. Power goes through permanent all-wheel drive, so all 640 horses find the road regardless of how liberally the throttle is applied.

This particular example, number 9 of 20, was first registered in 2007 and has covered just 25,520km across nearly two decades, the kind of mileage that speaks to a life of fastidious, considered ownership. With only 20 of these in existence, the LP640 Versace Edition holds a genuinely singular position in the Murciélago lineage, and with the broader market for late-era V12 Lamborghinis on a steady upward trajectory, the timing for a car like this feels rather well judged. It's available now through Amian Collection Cars in Kerpen, Germany, at price on request.
