While some rallies aim to bring back the trials and tribulations of golden-era regulatory events, others have one goal in mind: to celebrate the joy of driving some of the world’s most beautiful roads. The Rallye des Légendes Richard Mille is the latter, and has one simple ambition – to bring together the best and most rarely seen cars amidst some of Europe’s most spectacular roads and scenery. Simple.
Spanning an entire week, Peter Auto’s event brought together rarer-than-rare Alfa Romeos, Bentleys, Bugattis, and a smattering of Ford GT40s and gaggle of Shelby Cobra Daytonas to name but a few, not to mention a plethora of wonder-year Ferraris and Porsches, bringing a wonderful foreground to the already beautiful scenery.
This year saw over 50 cars, ranging from 1925 to 1975, enter an adventure that saw drivers and teams head across the French Rivera, using the sun-kissed St Tropez as their start and finish destination. More specifically, the picturesque Château de la Messardière, sat proudly at the summit of Pampelonne bay, marking the perfect spot for classics from around the world to congregate.
While the road tour is an enjoyable one compared to Peter Auto’s usual journey around some of Europe’s most challenging race circuits, the Rallye des Legendes Richard Mille does have a level of competition, which saw some competitors take to a local circuit for some hot laps. Amongst the flurry of classic Ferraris and Fiats, a fearsome Ford GT40 was one of the standouts of the week, roaring its way around the challenging track.
Attention will now turn to Portugal, which will see the Estoril Classic return for another year on 6th to the 8th of October, promising to be a fantastic event, and one no classic car lover should miss! Find out more on Peter Auto’s upcoming events here.
