Full quota of Bugattis to descend on Wilton House

Inspired largely by the event founder Lord Pembroke’s love of the marque, the display will begin with the oldest racing car – Ettore Bugatti’s 1913 Type 18 – and culminate with one of the most recent offerings, the Veyron Pur Sang. Other prominent Bugattis on display will include a 1926 Type 41 Royale, a 1931 Type 54 Grand Prix car, and the prototype Bugatti Type 73 C developed the year Ettore died. In total, at least 16 important Bugattis will be on display, along with, no doubt, a few more in the visitor car park.

Bonhams charts record online bid at Spa Classic sale

“The internet continues to grow as a trusted method with which clients can bid, a fact proven today by the most valuable lot ever sold at a Bonhams auction to an online bidder,” said Philip Kantor, Bonhams’ European Head of Motoring. The result is the latest in a series of instances that suggest traditional methods of buying and enthusing about cars are losing ground to the internet, proving Classic Driver – the first classic car website, established in 1998 – is the best-placed platform from which to enjoy classics both today, and long into the future.

As a result, the Scottish team’s Jaguar D-types have become the most iconic vehicles to wear the memorable metallic blue livery – but others include XK120s, C-types, Austin-Healeys, and even a Commer Transporter.
