Ex-Moss Jaguar C-type to headline Bonhams’ Monaco Sale 2016

An ex-Works Jaguar C-type in which Sir Stirling Moss raced several times will spearhead Bonhams’ Monaco Sale next May, when the auction house heads to the glamorous principality for the Grand Prix Historique…

Fitted with a special aerodynamic body, C-type ‘XKC 011’ was driven by Moss at Le Mans in 1952, but failed to finish. Following the race it was returned to its traditional configuration, and subsequent results included a win at the September Goodwood Meeting, in the hands of WW2 Major Tony Rolt. In the same ownership since 1963, the Jaguar is allegedly in highly original condition, having never been restored, and the sale represents a rare opportunity to own what Bonhams is calling “the cream of the historic car collecting world”.
