We weren’t expecting it, and yet we’re impressed to see the latest offering from Range Rover. Meet the GT, the fifth member of the family, and arguably the most quietly radical. Radical is a strong word for something we've only glimpsed through a swirl of gold camouflage, but bear with us.
Range Rover GT will be the marque's first all-electric model built on the new EMA platform, arriving as a battery-electric vehicle before a hybrid option joins later in its life. It's being built at Halewood, alongside the ICE and hybrid models it will one day share showroom space with — which tells you rather a lot about how Range Rover sees the future: not as a clean break, but as a widening of choice.

What's more interesting, though, is the cabin — and this is the bit that has us leaning in. A single, unbroken screen sits where a conventional dial cluster once lived. A concealed vent runs the full width of the dashboard, that horizontal graphic having become something of a Range Rover signature in its own right, and wrapping the dash is a single woven textile, designed to be tactile, architectural, and cleverly hiding the speakers within its weave. This is a brand chasing silence, both acoustic and visual, and second-row legroom that's being pitched as class-leading. It sounds, frankly, like the sort of place you'd want to spend several hours in, which is rather the point of a GT.

Martin Limpert, Managing Director of Range Rover, describes it as the most car-like Range Rover yet, while still being unmistakably capable. A neat trick if the brand can land it, blending EV effortlessness with genuine long-haul refinement and the all-terrain ability that's always separated Range Rover from anything wearing a similar badge on the Continent. The prototype that is now completing final testing wears a wrap designed around the topography of Gaydon itself, a flowing, golden contour map turned camouflage. Full details follow later this year. Until then, Range Rover GT remains a beautifully dressed question mark, and we’re looking forward to the answer!
