The Ford GT is powered by a 5.4-liter supercharged DOHC V8 engine with 4 valves per cylinder that delivers 550 HP (410 kW) at 6,500 rpm, and a maximum torque of 678 Nm (500 lb-ft) at 3750 rpm The gearbox is a 6-speed manual. . Assembly of the GT began at the Mayflower Vehicle Systems facility in Norwalk, Ohio, which was assembled and painted entirely by hand by Saleen Special Vehicles at their Troy, Michigan facility. It is powered by an engine manufactured at Ford Motor's Romeo, Michigan plant. Installation of the 6-speed manual gearbox and engine and interior trim was performed by Ford's SVT division during construction at the Wixom, Michigan plant.
