Now in its 20th year under BMW Group Classic's stewardship, this event continues to be a sanctuary where automotive history and artistry converge. This year's concours will showcase approximately 50 exceptional automobiles, each vying for the prestigious “Trofeo BMW Group – Best of Show.” The competition classes are thoughtfully curated to reflect pivotal eras in automotive design:
- Class A: Glorious Excess: The Evolution of the ‘Money no Object’ Motor Car, 1920–1940
- Class B: Sculpture in Motion: The Decade of the Automotive Arms Race, 1928–1938
- Class C: Renaissance: The Post-War European Sports Car Comes of Age
- Class D: Titans of the Track: When the Boss Says “Let’s Race!”
- Class E: Frozen in Time: Preservation ‘Time Capsules’ from 1900–1973 Which Have Survived in Unrestored State
- Class F: “Go Big or Go Home”: Automotive Excess of the ’80s to the New Millennium
- Class G: Vanishing Act: Gone but Proudly Not Forgotten
- Class H: Style Matters: Opulence Meets Elegance Before Times Change Forever
Beyond the main competition, the event will feature a class dedicated to concept cars, highlighting innovative designs from various manufacturers. The Saturday parade on Villa d’Este’s terrace remains a highlight, culminating in awards such as the “Coppa d’Oro” – awarded by people’s choice – and the “Trofeo del Presidente,” presented by Helmut Käs, Head of BMW Group Classic. Opera tenor Jonas Kaufmann will once again bestow the “Trofeo Il Canto del Motore” for the most captivating engine sound.
A centerpiece of this year's event is the unprecedented reunion of all surviving BMW 328 variants that competed in the 1940 Mille Miglia, including the victorious Touring Coupé and the famed “Trouser Crease Roadster.” This gathering offers a rare glimpse into BMW's storied racing heritage. BMW Group will also unveil three world premieres: an elegant two-seater from BMW, a high-adrenaline concept from BMW Motorrad, and a new high-performance model from BMW M. Additionally, the event will celebrate milestones such as 50 years of the BMW 3 Series and the 70th anniversaries of the BMW 507 and 503, with special displays at Villa Erba. The public is invited to partake in the festivities during the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este Public Day on Sunday, May 25, at Villa Erba, offering an immersive experience into the world of classic automobiles.
Meanwhile, Broad Arrow Auctions will make its European debut as the official auction partner of the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este, hosting a two-day sale at Villa Erba on May 24–25, 2025. The auction will feature over 70 exceptional collector cars, including a 1948 Ferrari 166 Spyder Corsa, a 1938 Talbot-Lago T150 C Lago Spéciale Teardrop Coupé by Figoni et Falaschi, and a 2022 Pagani Huayra R, among other significant pre- and post-war automobiles. The full catalogue can be found in the Classic Driver Market.
