BMW celebrates its centenary in style at the Monterey Motorsports Reunion

BMW has been chosen as the featured marque at this year’s Rolex Monterey Motorsport Reunion in celebration of the Bavarian manufacturer’s centenary. Look what just arrived at the party…

Toast of the Corkscrew

No fewer than 64 historic racing BMWs have descended on Laguna Seca Raceway for this year’s Reunion, marking out highpoints in its rich competition history – from the 328 MM to the Jeff Koons M3 Art Car. Alongside numerous 2002s, M1 Procars and CSLs (including all five IMSA Group 4 cars), you’ll find rarified spectacles in the form of the 315/1 Willis Special, the V12 LMR sports-prototype and an Alpina E30 M3 owned and driven by Andreas Bovensiepen, current Alpina CEO and eldest son of its founder. Also look out for the F1 GTR driven by Justin Bell, who raced one of its sister cars to 3rd overall at Le Mans.

There’s plenty more to be seen at the ‘Living Legends Garage’, including some significant BMW motorcycles, the Alexander Calder 3.0 CSL Art Car, the ex-Elvis 507 and the new ‘Turbomeister’ 2002 Hommage concept. In terms of star-studded birthday parties, this is certainly one for the A-listers.
