The history of the hypercar, as told by RM Sotheby's

It might be the year of the Ox in China, but in Arizona with RM Sotheby’s this January, it’s the year of the hypercar.

The elegant McLaren Speedtail is currently one of the hottest tickets out there for hypercar enthusiasts and this example has a specification that is pure class. Just 30 miles are currently recorded on car number 36 ,which also benefits from $170,000 of extras. The lowest estimate is marked at $3,500,000 and we already have our popcorn ready to watch it sell.

If however you prefer something a little older, then RM Sotheby’s have a hypercar to suit all tastes. How about the 1993 Cizeta V16 – T, made extra famous in many computer racing games? Or perhaps the 1991 Lamborghini Diablo, the 2003 Ferrari Enzo or the 2019 Ford GT ‘lightweight’. Still not sure? Well there’s also a 2019 Koenigsegg Regera and McLaren Senna to consider! The future of hypercars surely has a question mark over it, so these cars should be collected and celebrated as the ultimate examples of petrol fuelled hypercars.
