Ultrace has long established itself as a one-of-a-kind platform that brings together all creators of modern car culture, and few events have a talent for drawing out projects that feel genuinely purposeful rather than merely spectacular. This year's edition, fresh from their first event in Düsseldorf, took to the sea-kissed surroundings of Gdańsk to create the ultimate melting pot for style. Rennmeister are no stranger to the event, still fresh from the virality of their Motorcycle-wheeled BMW art installation in Ultrace’s German event, and brought along plenty of heritage, swagger, and one box-shaped surprise. 

It's called the Rennwagon, built as a homage to the E30 M3, reinterpreted into touring body form and built by Orca Restoration and Team Schneider for Mast Jägermeister SE and our own CD Works Creative as the agency tasked to promote it, the project is one that will evolve over time. The livery you see here is the work of Blackfish Graphics, though it won't be the last one: Rennmeister plan to open a community competition to design the next one, which tells you everything about how they see this project. It isn't finished, and it never really will be. That's the whole point.

Unlike its saloon car sibling that teared up the German Touring Car Championship in the 1990s, this E30 was built less to set the stopwatches alight, but more as a celebration of car culture and a gift for the enthusiasts who have helped shaped the industry into what it is today. Once the BMW’s 2.5-litre inline six is running perfectly, the car will be showcased at dynamic events around Europe, as well as emerging events and local meetups. Who knows, you may even see it at your local cars and coffee meeting!
