Singer has just released some impressive details and specs of their latest engineering masterpiece, a new heart designed for the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe and Cabriolet Reimagined by Singer. While the California specialist has spent fifteen years elevating the classic 911 to unknown heights, this milestone pushes the boundaries of fully analog engine technology even further. To achieve the ultimate naturally aspirated G-model for the twenty-first century, Singer once again partnered with none other than Cosworth, combining the best of Californian car culture with elite British motorsport knowledge.
At the core of this proven collaboration is a heavily optimized 4.0-liter flat-six that introduces a series of engineering firsts for Singer. Drawing on lessons from their extreme turbo-charged DLS programs, the anglo-American engineering team developed a revised four-valve cylinder head. For the first time, the engine features variable valve timing to balance low-speed drivability and torque with high-revs, creating a beautifully linear torque curve. It also introduces a unique hybrid cooling setup, which was also used on the legendary 959 of the eighties, combining water-cooled cylinder heads with classic air-cooled cylinders. An electric fan is providing an steady flow of fresh air.
Cosworth applied its hypercar expertise by introducing ultra-low-friction surface coatings straight from top tier racing, ensuring reliability under extreme load. Coupled with precision-machined combustion chambers and fully machined ports, the flat-six develops 420 horsepower and screams all the way past the 8,000 rpm-mark. To maximize driver engagement and ensure a beautifully analog feel, power goes to the rear wheels via an optimized six-speed manual gearbox, complete with an optional raised shifter and exposed mechanism. A bespoke titanium exhaust system provides a raw soundtrack to match the mechanical experience.
Singer is using the generation 964 as a base, like we are used to it. Each chassis is stripped and strengthened before receiving its new power plant. Exclusivity is guaranteed: all 100 allocations for the Coupe are already spoken for, with limited availability remaining for the 75 Cabriolets.
