Autopía has been redefining Spain’s collector car landscape for four years now as part of the FIVA events calendar. Born from the desire to give the Iberian Peninsula a world-class gathering, this unique event has quickly established itself within the Spanish classic and sportscar scene. As one of the few high-caliber events of its kind in the country, it celebrates a deep-rooted passion that is normally associated with the national culture. It's finally finding its stage within the automotive world.
Each spring, a forest just outside of the capital is transformed into a sanctuary for 2,000 carefully selected automobiles. Across 17 hectares of the Banco Santander Financial City, nature, automotive design and engineering coexist in unexpected harmony. The event’s biggest asset is its sheer diversity: the curators prioritize narrative over price tags. Here, a modest supermini from the seventies might be parked beside an exclusive supercar; a humble Renault Siete might share the shade of the trees with a Ferrari 812 Superfast. This inclusive approach ensures accessibility for all kinds of enthusiasts and that every vehicle can tell its story. Without hierarchy or badge snobbery.
Autopìa remains faithful to its philosophy of culture and preservation, dividing the forest location into over twenty thematic areas. The heart of the venue, El Lago, serves as the stage for the most significant cars on display. The upcoming edition, taking place on 25 and 26 April, promises to be spectacular. A major tribute to the Lamborghini Miura and its V12 successors is planned to mark the 60th anniversary of the first supercar. This will be accompanied by celebrations for the BMW M3 and the 50th anniversary of the Volkswagen Golf GTI.
Additionally, two motorcycles that recently won the Dakar Rally have already been confirmed as exhibits. Other highlights include a WRC car, a Pegaso that can rightfully be described as a Spanish automotive icon, and two original racing Cobras by Carroll Shelby. But Autopía is more than just a mere car show. It is supposed to be an intergenerational meeting point. In a relaxed atmosphere, the owners and interested families gather to share their passion for car culture. As part of the anniversaries, they can even have a chat with the cars' designers. By connecting the local community with the broader European scene, Autopía is on a mission to establish a new tradition.
"We care deeply about culture and sustainability on every level. From the preservation of historic vehicles and the responsible enjoyment of youngtimers to the careful selection of modern cars", explains organizer Juan Hernández, who founded his own 'motoring utopia' together with 'If you like cars' creator Héctor Álvarez. Their long-term goal is nothing less than to establish Autopía as one of Southern Europe’s most prestigious automotive events. They want to offer Spanish fans an experience comparable to established must-attend dates like the Goodwood Revival, Retromobile, or Villa d’Este.
