RM Sotheby’s might have been forced to move its auction operations online, but that’s not to say the calibre of the collector cars it’s consigning has dropped in any way. Its Online Only: Driving into Summer sale, the bidding for which opens on 11 May and closes on 28–29 May, is a testament to this.
Situated in a magnificent 1930s former Ford and Lincoln dealership in the port town of Black Rock in Connecticut, Redline Automotive Restorations has, over the last 17 years, forged a reputation across North America and beyond for world-class, award-winning blue-chip classic car restorations.
The undisputed headline act in Osenat’s online-only Automobiles de Collection auction, the bidding for which ends on 27 May, is the 1969 Lamborghini Miura P400 S. One of the most original Miuras in existence, chassis #4332 has been lovingly maintained by its French owner since 1981. Showing a genuine 52,000km on the clock, the beautiful Lamborghini is estimated to sell for 700,000–1m euros.
“If people don’t tell us we’re silly for attempting such a trip with such a car, then our idea is simply not silly enough,” quips the 27-year-old German photographer and filmmaker David Zu Elfe, referencing his latest adventure.
A man entrenched in the world of motorsport since the 1970s, David Clark today runs his renowned collector car dealership Taylor & Crawley, is a partner in the successful Jota Sport sports car team and can often be seen deftly sliding a historic racing car – usually one of Wolfgang Friedrich’s beautiful Aston Martins – at the world’s most prestigious historic motorsport meetings.
