In 1975, at the Paris Motor Show, Ferrari presented to the world its latest GT creation, the 308 GTB "Gran Turismo Berlinetta", which was born with the idea of flanking and then replacing the 308 GT4 (presented in 1974) since the same since its release had not obtained both from the point of view of the market and in terms of success among fans the results of the model that preceded it or the beautiful 246GT. After about two years from the presentation of the GTB, in 1977 the discovered version was presented to the world: the 308 GTS "Gran Turismo Discovery".
The line and the interiors were designed by Pininfarina, led by Leonardo Fioravanti. From its sister Dino, the 308 GTS had inherited the two dry seats and the setting of the tubular chassis with central rear engine. The bodywork was made of steel by Carrozzeria Scaglietti (while the first two years of production of the 308 GTB saw the use of fibreglass). The 3-litre V8 engine with double overhead camshaft and 4 Weber 40DCNF. double body carburetors. Great innovation, which allowed for better performance, was the dry sump lubrication. Characteristics of this car were the retractable headlights with square covers and the very wide lateral sockets that were already starting from the doors. The interiors were extremely well cared for with an elegant and complete instrumentation. This model was a real myth for the fans of a famous American TV series "Magnum PI" in which the actor Tom Sellect roamed with this beautiful GT on the sunny streets of Hawaii.

Our car was born in light gold. Over the years, it has been repainted entirely in order to change colour in the classic Ferrari Red, the spectacular interior sand colour are original in both color and leather. The chassis, the engine, and the gearbox are matching number. Over the years it has been subject to careful maintenance proven by various technical and accounting documentation. It was registered for the first time in January 1979 in the USA where its first owner decided in a short time to sell it. So, in the August of the same year, this beautiful specimen returned to Italy. From there, after several years, exactly in 2016, it left for the Netherlands where in 2018 after just two years returned to the country where it was built, Italy. Its current owner bought it in 2018 and immediately registered it in the ASI register with no. 288841.
