Letting it slide with Mario Andretti‘s Ferrari Daytona in St Moritz

The ice cool stage is almost set for year’s The Ice at St Moritz, and it seems renowned photographer Fabrizio D’Aloisio and model Letizia Gansser wanted to start the celebrations early, using perhaps the ultimate gift as the key subject…

There are few racers out there that were quite like Mario Andretti. He’s one of the most successful Americans in the history of our beloved sport and is one of only two drivers to have won races in Formula One, IndyCar, the World Sportscar Championship, and NASCAR. These events require determination, exceptional teamwork, and of course, speed.

Before that plethora of wins, though, Mario Andretti’s first Formula 1 victory in a Ferrari came at South Africa’s Kyalami circuit in 1971, where this Rosso Corsa Ferrari 365 GTB/4 was gifted to him by Luigi Chinetti in pure celebration of the moment.

Seeing the car amongst the winding descents of St Moritz, alongside Letizia only accentuates the striking design of the Daytona, being the most powerful and fast in the world in its time.

While the bold and brave have tackled the ice of the Olympic Bob Run in St Moritz since 1904, motor racing on ice is a new sport to the glamorous Swiss alpine destination, and the countdown to this year's event is very much on.

We'll of course be bringing you all the sights and sounds of this thrilling event, so be sure to follow us on our social media channels too!
