Aston Martin’s new Vantage has a sister – and she’s a bit racy

Tried and tested

Developed in parallel with the new Vantage road car, the GTE will replace the former two-time Le Mans winner V8 Vantage GTE as the company’s new FIA World Endurance Championship challenger. With its Mercedes-AMG 4.0-litre, turbocharged V8 engine, Alcon braking system, Öhlins suspension, and Michelin bespoke tyres, the new race car — still in the development phase — has already completed 13,000km of testing on track, including one successful 30-hour run at Navarro in Spain and a durability programme at Sebring in Florida. Along with being led by Technical Director Dan Sayers and Chief Creative Officer Marek Reichman, the new Vantage GTE project has also been analysed and optimised according to input from factory test drivers Darren Turner, Jonny Adam, Nicki Thiim, Marco Sørensen, and new addition Alex Lynn. With the first race of the 2018 season, Spa-Francorchamps, six months away, Aston still has plenty of time to fully hone its new WEC contender…
