Gordon McCall's Motorworks Revival 2014

It might be labelled as the 'unofficial' start to Monterey Car Week, but it's no less prestigious than any of the other events – as demonstrated by the attendance of an authentic Gulf-liveried Works Porsche 917...

Now in its 23rd year, the McCall Motorworks Revival occupied its familiar, now-twin-hangar home at the Monterey Jet Center. A far cry from its humble roots (it began as a small barbecue garden party between friends), it has gradually developed into an exclusive event that provides significant cars with a backdrop of planes, helicopters, and a steady stream of canapés.

Along with the Gulf car – chassis 017/004, the first 917 to complete a race – further highlights included the latest Singer 911s, a Mustang roadster concept from the early 60s, and a battle-scarred Porsche Spyder 550 A-1500. Browse the gallery above for more...
