Under the shadow of Mount Fuji, Singer Vehicle Design has brought its latest masterpiece, the Porsche 911 Carrera Coupe Reimagined by Singer, to Japanese soil for the very first time. Presented during Cornes Day at the legendary Fuji Speedway, the arrival marks the third global outing for Singer’s newest restoration service, following summer debuts at Goodwood and Monterey.
Hosted by Cornes Group, Singer’s Global Partner in Japan, the event celebrates the country’s vibrant automotive culture. Alongside a dazzling array of modern and classic exotica, Singer’s latest creation stole the spotlight, not least for its pastel hue and exquisite craftsmanship. Singer founder and creative visionary Rob Dickinson describes the new restoration as a modern love letter to the 1980s “Carrera with Super Sport Equipment”, a rare, wide-bodied variant of the classic 911 that wore the flared hips of the Turbo but retained a naturally aspirated engine.

At the heart of the car lies a 4.0-litre flat-six, developed by Singer in collaboration with Cosworth. The engine, based on the Porsche Type 964 unit, represents the most advanced naturally aspirated motor ever to emerge from Singer’s workshops. Singer’s relentless pursuit of perfection extends far beyond the engine bay. The car’s Type 964 monocoque is fully stripped, restored, and strengthened using techniques developed in partnership with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, ensuring razor-sharp handling. The chassis benefits from electronically-controlled dampers and Bosch-developed ABS, traction, and stability control systems, all fine-tuned for spirited driving on road and track.

As ever, the cabin is a triumph of artistry. The example shown at Cornes Day wears an interior that took over 400 hours to craft. Each seam is hand-burnished and edge-painted, using techniques borrowed from the world of haute couture leather goods. The combination of Celeste Passalacqua and Mars Pink velvet, leather and corduroy may sound extravagant, but in person, it strikes that uniquely Singer balance between heritage, modernity, and sheer beauty. In true Singer fashion, every curve, stitch, and rev carries a singular message, celebrating the idea that the past isn’t something to be preserved, it’s something to be perfected.
