Though there are branches on both the East and West Coasts of America, the beating heart of GTO Engineering is the eponymous GTO House, a sprawling mansion set in the picturesque English countryside west of London. Indeed, this grand building is something of a British home from home for sporting Italian machines, and within seconds of stepping foot inside, the bloodline of this super-stable is clear to see.

In a field of over 200 entrants, it was purely coincidental that two of the cars nominated for ‘Best of Show’ at Pebble Beach yesterday — a 1929 Mercedes-Benz S Barker Tourer and a 1957 Ferrari 315 S Scaglietti — were owned by two brothers, Bruce R. and John McCaw. Ultimately, it was the ‘speed, style, and power’ of Bruce R.’s Mercedes-Benz that earned it the prestigious overall prize.
