R nineT: The blank canvas from BMW Motorrad
It’s a strange reversal of roles when a huge, highly respected, mainstream motorcycle manufacturer hops onto the customisation bandwagon by launching a bike that few owners will leave intact. In a curious case of ‘life imitates art’, the retro-styled R nineT boasts a removable rear frame and enough space for 6-inch rims, clearly anticipating that – rather than settling for BMW’s purist design – buyers will tear apart their new bike and make it their own.
Auto Fabrica’s Type 3B is a Bugatti-inspired symbol of simplicity
“The Original Type 3 was a bike built based purely on fun,” says Bujar Muharremi, one of the two brothers that make up UK-based motorcycle customiser Auto Fabrica. “Due to the success and huge amount of interest it generated, we decided to build another; this time, we wanted to push it slightly in the colour and trim deparment.” The brothers opted for a take on the original Bugatti blue colour for the tank, while black suede usurped the brown leather used on the seat of the original bike.
Will this Brough Superior SS100 sell for £300,000?
The SS100 in question is the ‘Alpine Grand Sports’ version, which pays homage to the Alpine Trial reliability run that George Brough famously entered in 1925. Built in 1929, the ‘AGS’ features a lower compression ratio (for better touring suitability), a small fly-screen and a pair of toolboxes as standard.

Pininfarina’s hybrid neo-classical bicycle is rarer than a LaFerrari
Designed by the legendary Italian design house and hand-built by 43 Milano, the Fuoriserie takes inspiration from the dawn of Pininfarina’s illustrious history – the Lancia Astura Bocca of 1936 being the main reference point. The chromed steel frame is dressed with numerous classical details, such as a walnut briar-root frame surround and matching interwoven leather for the seat and handlebars.

Superior status: The new Brough gets going
Back in January, we reported that the long-defunct Brough Superior SS100 was to be revived with a modern twist, thanks to new company custodian Mark Upham. The latest news from the company’s Austrian headquarters is that the production version is ready, and is currently being displayed at the EICMA showcase in Milan ahead of the start of production at its newly built factory in Toulouse.
