20 interesting collectables about to go under the hammer in Paris

With 500 cars on display and a further 400 going to auction, it’s a tough task to drag yourself away from Rétromobile’s main attractions. But do so for long enough, and you could grab yourself a bargain at Bonhams' and Artcurial’s automobilia sales…

A case of small man syndrome

The children will be interested in certain lots from Arturial’s automobilia auction, in particular the several junior cars on offer. Our highlight is the ‘Ferrarina’ 312 T2, a downsized version of Niki Lauda’s 1976 F1 car carrying an estimate of €15,000 – 25,000. Elsewhere in the catalogue, a pint-sized counterpart to the headlining ex-Alain Delon Ferrari California Spider is expected to fetch €12,000 – 18,000; the ideal steed for a ‘Classic Driver in training’, perhaps?

More seasoned style sages might be tempted by the range of vintage picnic cases offered at the Bonhams auction nearby. The highlight is a six-person case made in Paris around 1905, estimated to command €30,000 – 40,000. Or perhaps your tastes are better suited to a cutaway model of a Renault Dauphine, which the manufacturer used for presentation purposes in period?
