Alfa Romeo and Zagato joined forces for this low-slung coupé alla Milanese

Not many cars are cooler than an Alfa Romeo from the 1960s, especially one that’s been given some extra spice from a little old carrozzeria called Zagato. Fancying the perfect summer cruiser? This 2600 is a great contender!

Out of every car brand to exist, there is one that consistently surprises us with just how many unusual (and often incredibly rare) cars they made back in their heyday. Alfa Romeo have made some exceptional creations over the years, some of which have gone on to become six, even seven figure sellers on the Classic Driver Market. However, there are still some that appear out of the woodwork and stop you in your tracks, and this Zagato-bodied 2600 from 1965 designed by the great Ercole Spada did exactly that!

One of 104 Alfa Romeo 2600s bodied by Zagato in their distinctive style, this low-slung coupé was a real head-turner in its day, and it seems nothing has changed nearly 60 years later. Fully restored by Nastasi Racing with a mere 1,500 miles driven since said restoration, this fine example is ready to cruise once more, and benefits from a wealth of improvements to increase its reliability. That isn't to say old Alfas are known for their reliability issues or anything…

The fully rebuilt engine features high compression pistons, performance cam shafts, and stainless steel tubular headers, so we can only imagine just how good this Italian stallion must sound, especially with its all-important, rare and original Weber intake manifold sporting three Weber 40 DCOE carbs.

Here at Classic Driver, we’d like to think we are pretty clued up on the obscure one-offs and rare editions, but this is one that certainly piqued our interest, and is an absolute must for any classic Italian lover!
