Tantalising two-wheeled treats from Auctions America in Santa Monica

In addition to the vast selection of classic and modern collector cars at Auctions America’s Santa Monica sale on 24-25 June, there are also a number of interesting motorcycles in the catalogue, many of which are tantalisingly affordable and offered without reserve…

If you’re looking for a cheap thrill, what could be better than a classic scrambler to whose tail you could strap a weekend bag and set off into the Californian desert? Estimated at just 1,500-3,000 US dollars, our pick of the dirt bikes on offer would be the 1974 Husqvarna 360 – a motorcycle that even Steve McQueen wouldn’t look out of place astride.

For those after a cruiser solely to ride (and be seen) on Ocean Drive or the like, we would plump for the full-fat Indian Chief (est. 5,000-7,000 dollars) or the classic Harley-Davidson Fatboy, complete with custom chequered flag livery (7,000-10,000 dollars). And if neither speed nor style bothers you, the humble Honda Cub (800-1,500 dollars) is a trusty steed ideal carrying out those day-to-day tasks, especially in the city where a car is just not viable. You can find the full catalogue for Auctions America’s Santa Monica sale listed in the Classic Driver Market.
