There are worse problems to have, but for the motorbike enthusiast who’s also a surfing enthusiast, the practice of one passion often negates the other. Luckily, the great minds at Deus Ex Machina’s Bali outfit have a solution, the ‘Sea Sider’…

All aboard

Starting with a 1974 Honda C70 Super Cub, a 1995 Honda Astra engine has replaced the wheezing six-horsepower original, offering not only more power but also improved reliability — after all, there’d be nothing worse than missing that perfect break because your surfer scooter wouldn’t start. Lightness was also important for the Deus team, so weight-saving measures, such as bicycle handlebars and lightweight rims, were added and the frame was stripped of any unnecessary components.
