Nearly fifty years after the debut of the legendary 935/78 "Moby Dick", the slantnose theme has lost none of its appeal. Independent companies regularly attempt aerodynamically optimized conversions based on various Porsche 911 generations, featuring flattened front ends and massive rear spoilers that generate extreme downforce. One notable example is the Indecent 020, which impresses with its slippery aerodynamics and supercharged powertrain.

While Porsche itself remained rather reserved on the subject in the last couple of years, the carmaker's Sonderwunsch department has now unveiled a bespoke one-off based on a 991-generation 911 GT2 RS at Monterey Car Week. Porsche had already realized a modern slantnose tribute on a GT2 RS platform back in 2018, but the new Flachbau RS is officially fully road-legal.

Developed over nearly three years by Porsche and Manthey, this modern reinterpretation was extensively tested in the wind tunnel and on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. The engine output remained untouched, yet further lightweight measures shaved an additional 31.6 kilograms off an already lean sports car. On the outside, the bespoke creation fascinates with a custom-mixed Grand Prix White finish, exposed carbon fiber elements, flattened fenders with cooling louvers, and delicate LED cascade headlights. A new rear wing adapted from the current Porsche 911 GT3 R Rennsport ensures maximum downforce.

The interior embodies pure minimalism. Red Alcantara and leather dominate the front, while almost everything behind the seats has been stripped away. The PCM infotainment system, radio, and sound insulation were all removed. Instead, the driver is greeted by bare white sheet metal, full carbon bucket seats, and deliberately exposed wiring harnesses that deliver an authentic racing feel.
