Silverstone Auctions - The Classic Race Aarhus Auction 2016

The tasteful French duo is owned by Jürgen Clauss, the founder of AlpineLAB – an online platform for passionate owners and enthusiasts of the Alpine A110. He believes that classic Alpines in general are massively under-appreciated, and is striving to earn them the recognition they deserve, by uniting owners and extensively logging the most original examples. The A110 is a car that needs no introduction – a rally sensation in the late-1960s/early-1970s, it had Gallic charm in abundance and put France back on the motorsport map.
In honour of the legendary Tour de France Automobile (France’s version of the Mille Miglia road race held during the golden era of motorsport), the Tour Auto sees around 240 classic competition cars descend on Paris, ahead of a week snaking south through the French countryside. It’s the first major international tour event of the season, with entrants choosing to join the regularity or competition classes, depending on the seriousness of their intentions.
On 22 April, 40 classics to suit every budget will go under the hammer at Auctionata’s online-only Classic Cars 499 sale. Aside from the nine Porsche 911s, handful of Ferraris and smattering of pre-2000 Mercedes-Benzes, we particularly like the Le Mans Blue 1971 Alfa Romeo Montreal. An early (and remarkably original) example built in the prototype period of the model’s life, it’s estimated to fetch 80,000 euros.
