With almost 190 collector cars ranging from post-War classics estimated for below £20,000 to limited-production modern supercars costing 10 times as much, Historics Auctioneers’ Ascott Racecourse sale on 7 March is a veritable smorgasbord of automotive treasures.

Suffice to say, I didn’t need asking twice. See, I’ve always considered the low-slung 1960s sports car to be the purest and most beautiful Porsche of them all.
