The Mercedes SLK R170 is based on the SLK I Concept, presented at the Turin Motor Show in early 1994, and the SLK II Concept, presented at the Paris Motor Show in late 1994. This concept is a two-seater roadster with an electrohydraulically retractable metal roof, called the "vario-roof" by Mercedes, which can be operated in 25 seconds. A German design patent was filed on September 30, 1993, and the final production version of the SLK was introduced at the Turin Motor Show on April 22, 1996. Construction of test cars began in October 1995, and mass production began in July 1996.
The SLK R170 is based on the W202 C-Class platform and shares many drivetrain and chassis components, as well as a shortened version of the floorpan. The wheelbase is also identical to that of the 190SL and 300SL, at 2,400 mm (94.5 in).
Standard equipment included power seats, power windows, power steering, dual-zone climate control, a dimmable rearview mirror, and alloy wheels. Safety features included front and side airbags for the driver and passenger, an anti-lock braking system, and electronic stability control. Options included an AMG body design package, also known as the "Sports Package," with body-colored side skirts, chrome-plated exhaust pipes, 17-inch AMG alloy wheels with lower-profile tires, and a sculpted front spoiler with black air intakes. Wider wheels were also available on the SLK 230 Kompressor models. Available options included a 5-speed "Touch Shift" 5G-Tronic automatic transmission, heated seats, xenon headlights, a premium Bose sound system, a 6-CD changer in the trunk, 8-way power seats, and a manually adjustable steering wheel for both reach and reach.
Here is the 230 SLK. It has approximately 222,000 km on the odometer but feels like it's only just been broken in. The car is equipped with an automatic transmission, black leather upholstery, and an aluminum dashboard, giving it a sporty character. It also features a metal folding roof, making it suitable for year-round use. The beautiful rims complete the car, as does the excellent rust-free bodywork. A small but elegant convertible with Mercedes quality.
This vehicle has Dutch registration.
