Design by Paul Bracq still looks stunning today
First put on the road on 15 June 1965, this pretty Mercedes 230 SL with pagoda roof is presented in silver with a black leather interior and black alpaca hood. The straight six-cylinder engine is mated to a four speed manual gearbox. This example has the bonus of a well known history, as it has had just two owners since 1971. The current owner bought the car some 20 years ago in 1996, from the estate of the previous owner, the Mercedes-Benz dealer in Dijon who had exhibited the car for many years in his showroom. The Pagoda is presented in good overall condition, having been re-sprayed in 1999. During the same period the car had major mechanical work carried out which included replacing the shock absorbers, alternator, brake pistons and clutch, and the injection pump and steering box were repaired. More recently, the rear drums were serviced. The interior has a lovely patina, and the pads of the seats have been replaced while as much of the period upholstery was kept as possible. The car has not been driven very much in recent years and has always been kept in good conditions. It comes with its hardtop, and will be serviced before the sale. Given that the Pagoda is stunning and easy to drive, it is no surprise to find that it has become more and more sought after by collectors.
