French title Engine n° 127981 10 003103 - Reliable and attractive model - High quality restoration This Mercedes 230 SL was acquired by the current owner in 1988, in Calvados. It has been a French car from new, as confirmed by the plaque in the engine bay of 'Éts Delecroix ', the French Mercedes importer. At this time, the engine had just been overhauled. Subsequently, the bodywork on the car was completely restored at the Desfaudais workshop in Beaumont-sur-Sarthe. At the same time, the red leather upholstery and matching red carpets were renovated by the Éts Morin, in Gacé, with exquisite results. The wood trim on the dashboard, the chrome and the hardtop have also been renovated. On the mechanical side, the fuel injection was overhauled and the car has since been maintained by the Mercedes agent in Aigle. Recently, the clutch and the gearbox linkage have also had work carried out. The car comes with its same colour hardtop, service manual and a European agents' guide. The hood is in perfect condition and the Michelin X tyres display little sign of wear. Fitted with an 'occasional' rear seat and a Visseaux radio, here is a lovely example of this iconic model.
