Elegant convertible

Good older restoration

After WWII, Mercedes eventually produced two new models fitted with 6-cylinder engines, the 220 and the 300. Mercedes actually aimed with them to be reconsidered as luxury car manufacturer. The 220, internally known as the W187, was fitted with a 2,2L 6-cylinder engine, their first new engine in a decade. It produced 80 hp which increased the top speed to140 km/h and therefore Duplex brakes were fitted. Different bodies were available: saloon, coupé and a 2-seater or 4-seater cabriolet.
The car on offer is a 4-seater cabriolet version, called ""cabriolet B"" which benefited from an older restoration which is ageing very well. In a nice cream livery with a navy blue leather interior, it appears to have been well maintained with only small flaws from road use throughout. Moreover it is equipped with an attractive dial-faced Becker radio and amber coloured fog lamps. The engine has at some point been replaced by the factory or rebuilt as indicates a tag fixed to the engine block.
This is an elegant convertible which will be perfect to enjoy rallies and events with its legendary reliability.
