Description

The Mercedes-Benz 220 S Cabriolet (W180), built between 1956 and 1959, represents the peak of 1950s German elegance. With less than 2200 units produced, this open-top version was a symbol of status, luxury, and reliability in its time. These qualities make it a highly desirable collector’s piece today.

This particular example was likely first delivered in Germany and officially registered on October 14, 1957. It was later imported to Italy, where it received a new registration in 1994, before arriving in Belgium in 2019. The car has been registered in Belgium since October 2021 and has been used and maintained with care ever since.

It is finished in its original Anthracite Grey Metallic (code 172G), paired with a beautifully preserved red leather interior, wood trim, and matching red carpets. The black soft-top has been recently renewed and remains in excellent condition.

This is a genuine matching numbers car. It retains its original 2.2-liter inline-six engine, delivering 106 horsepower through a four-speed manual gearbox. The odometer currently reads 77,000 km, and the car has benefited from a full professional restoration. All major components including mechanical systems, bodywork, interior, brakes, and electrics have been carefully restored or serviced to original specifications.

The car is in very good overall condition, both mechanically and cosmetically. The chrome shines nicely, the engine runs smoothly, and the clutch and gearbox operate as they should. Inside, the leather, wood, and materials show light patina with no major flaws. As originally built, it is not equipped with seatbelts.

An elegant and usable collector’s car, ready to be enjoyed on sunny drives or as a refined addition to any classic car collection.
