This particular XK120SE was ordered special ordered new by the West Coast Jaguar distributor, Hornburg, of Los Angeles, California. The order specified both colors and the higher specification “SE or Special Equipment” high-output, 180bhp engine. According to the Jaguar Factory original assembly records, it was completed on New Years Eve in 1952.
On arrival in the States, it was sold new by Hornburg to Los Angeles resident Allen Auerbach. Auerbach retained the car for the next 13 years until selling it to a very famous Southern California, WWII pilot who would go on to become one of the most prolific collectors of classic automobiles. During his lifetime he would acquire in additional to this XK120SE a 300SL and a Series One E-Type.
During his ownership, the car was repainted to a beautiful but incorrect shade of blue. It would remain with him for the next 50 years until being purchased by a well-known Coronado, California enthusiast in 2016.
The car was then immediately dispatched to famed restorer, Javier Sacio’s, SACIO Enterprises in San Diego, California. After acquiring a Jaguar Daimler Heritage Trust Letter, it was found that the car was originally black. Over the next four years, the car was the subject of a complete and total, no-expense spared restoration and complete mechanical rebuild which saw the car completely “metal-finished” and repainted back to the original black delivery color.
The current owner's total expenses to date exceed $200,000. The restoration, panel fit and mechanical condition of this Jaguar are simply 2nd to none!
This rare Special Equipment XK120 Roadster has always been completely rust and accident free. It is also completely matching numbers, verified by both the Jaguar Daimler Trust Heritage Certificate as well as careful photographs of the original chassis plate, frame stamping, body, gearbox, engine block and cylinder head stampings.
You could spend twice the price and the rest of your life and never encounter a finer example anywhere.
Please contact me if I can assist further with inspections, test-drives and follow-on, world-wide shipping assistance.
Kind regards and many thanks,
Bill Noon
