Description

The Grifo was produced in 'Series II' form, circa 1970 and featured a revised front end, incorporating flush-fitting pop-up headlights and a raised 'penthouse' hood detail, as well as several key interior and exterior changes - all now considered by many to be among Giorgetto Giugiaro's most elegant and timeless design studies. The tamest Grifo came with 350bhp, which was good for around 260km/h (160mph), while for the proverbial speed demon, there was the exclusive, 390bhp 7.0-litre model, of which only 90 were made. Iso claimed a top speed of 300km/h (186mph) for the long-legged 7.0-litre Grifo, making it faster than a Ferrari Daytona. By the time the Iso factory closed its doors in 1974 only 413 Grifos of all types had been made, and today this exclusive Italian/American supercar is increasingly sought after by collectors. One of the few Series II models outfitted with the infamous Ford 351ci (5.8-liter) Cleveland V8 engine and automatic transmission, this particular Grifo was previously owned by M. Clarke of Southern California. There are maintenance and restoration records on file issued by a notable Northern California based restoration shop during 2005-2007, together with various small bills for the period 2005-2010. This Grifo was displayed at 'The Quail, a Motor Sport Gathering' in August 2012 and shortly after was sold to a well-known Far-East based Iso collector. The car is finished in deep red paintwork with a completely new and stunning interior in Cognac leather, Wilton carpeting and displays all correct patterns and details throughout. Factory air conditioning and power steering make this Iso a pleasure to drive, and a total of 43,500 kilometers is currently displayed on the odometer.
This fabulous Grifo represents a rare opportunity to acquire the very best in Italian Gran Turismo style and performance, with little of the usually associated expense.
