Description

1968 CITROËN 2CV AZU VAN
Vehicle registration: French
Chassis number: 7118312
• An iconic utility version of the 2CV lineup, the AZU offers a payload capacity of 250 kg
• Completely rebuilt from a restoration-ready chassis
Introduced in 1954 as the successor to the AU model, the Citroën 2CV AZU is the utility version of the popular 2CV. Equipped with a 425 cm³ two-cylinder engine, it features a functional cargo area and a payload capacity of 250 kg, making it a favored work vehicle for tradespeople and French government agencies throughout the 1950s and 1960s. Models from the late 1960s illustrate the evolution of this van, prior to subsequent changes in the Citroën utility vehicle lineup.
The vehicle on display bears chassis number 7118312 and was first registered in 1968. Originally acquired as a restoration project, this van has undergone a complete restoration.
The restoration began with the chassis. Mechanically, the 425 cm³ two-cylinder engine was disassembled and overhauled, with worn parts replaced before reassembly. The restoration also required the use of as many new parts as possible, most of which were purchased from the Méhari Club Cassis. The work was carried out by our collector’s personal mechanic.
Completed in 2017, this restoration was followed by the car’s inclusion in a private collection and a personal museum. Since then, it has been stored indoors and used sparingly to preserve its condition while ensuring it remains in good working order. Its overall condition reflects the care taken during the restoration work.
