The genesis of the Chevrolet Corvette is amazing. A concept car at first, the car received an enthusiastic reception at its presentation in 1953, and Chevrolet quickly decided to put into production. A bit of a gamble though the mechanical base was known, the production of the body called for the use of an innovative new material then, fiberglass. But it was not easy to renew a car that had just in a few years already forged a legendary reputation. Yet this was the feat that th car's designers succeeded in. Indeed, in 1963, the second generation Corvette appeared, called the "C2", and designed by Larry Shinoda, under the direction of Bill Mitchell. A total break in style with the previous versions, the C2 Corvette was distinguished by its slim profile that highlighted the promising performance of this machine. A number of fans consider this the most beautiful Corvette in the long history of the model.
This car was sold new by the Chevrolet dealer Vogel in San Francisco, California. It was delivered on July 5, 1963 and then had four other owners, including the current one, who has had the car for 25 years. Originally, the car was painted "Daytona Blue" with the interior in the same colour. The latter has been redone, and comes in a beautiful state and retains the same colour, the exterior has been repainted in a beautiful navy blue. The body is in a beautiful state. The car has its original engine, the famous 327 V8 (5.4-liters), mated to a transmission from Muncie, a T-10, and is fed by an enormous Carter AFB 3461S carburetor, which gives it a max power of 300bhp. Many other mechanical parts are original including the exhaust manifold, the cylinder heads, the expansion chamber...
In accordance with the model year of 1963, the car is equipped with retractable head lamps and among the options it has a vintage radio, and especially a valuable hard top. The car is real fun to drive.
