40 years ago was it so far: As face-lifted Alfa Romeo GTV 6 succeeded to the sports car with 118 kW/160 HP performing V6 a furious new start in the competition surrounding Porsche 924/944, Nissan 280 ZX, Ford Capri 2.8 Injection or Opel Monza, in addition, against Lancia Montecarlo and Maserati Merak 2000 V6. The Alfa GTV "Sei", as the Italians also advertised their sound-strong six-cylinder with fuel injection in this country, brought the Alfetta story and the legendary transaxle design principle (engine at the front, transmission, clutch and differential at the rear axle) to a climax.

More important for the sports coupé clientele were, of course, other facts, first and foremost driving performance. Here, too, the GTV 6 lived up to its image as a thunderbolt, because in practice it clearly surpassed the restrained brochure figures. In contemporary tests, the V6 sprinted from 0 to 100 km/h in around eight seconds and the top speed was measured at up to 220 km/h, putting the 1980 Alfa even on a par with the far more expensive BMW 6 Series and Mercedes SL, but above all it made an announcement in the competitive field.

While the Alfetta sedan was sent into its final round of production in 1984, the coupé continued to be built until 1986. A total of about 135,400 coupé versions were produced, of which 22,381 were the GTV6 and only about 800 the special GTV6 Grand Prix model, which was fitted with a special aerodynamic kit, decorative stripes and special aluminum wheels by Rayton Fissore.

Vor 40 Jahren war es soweit: Als facegelifteter Alfa Romeo GTV 6 gelang dem Sportler mit 118 kW/160 PS leistendem V6 ein furioser Neustart im Wettbewerbsumfeld von Porsche 924/944, Nissan 280 ZX, Ford Capri 2.8 Injection oder Opel Monza, aber auch gegen Lancia Montecarlo und Maserati Merak 2000 V6. Der Alfa GTV „Sei“, wie die Italiener ihren soundstarken Sechsender mit Einspritzung auch hierzulande bewarben, führte die Alfetta-Geschichte und das legendäre Transaxle-Konstruktionsprinzip (Motor vorn, Getriebe, Kupplung und Differential an der Hinterachse) zum Höhepunkt.

Wichtiger für die Sportcoupé-Klientel waren natürlich weitere Fakten, allen voran die Fahrleistungen. Auch dabei wurde der GTV 6 seinem Auftritt als Donnerkeil gerecht, denn in der Praxis übertraf er die zurückhaltenden Prospektwerte deutlich. In zeitgenössischen Tests sprintete der V6 in rund acht Sekunden von 0 auf 100 km/h und die Höchstgeschwindigkeit wurde mit bis zu 220 km/h gemessen, damit bewegte sich der Alfa 1980 sogar auf dem Niveau der weit kostspieligeren BMW 6er und Mercedes SL, vor allem aber machte er eine Ansage im Wettbewerbsumfeld.

Während die Alfetta Limousine 1984 in die letzte Produktionsrunde geschickt wurde, baute man das Coupé noch bis 1986 weiter. Insgesamt wurden etwa 135‘400 Coupé-Versionen produziert, davon entfielen 22‘381 auf den GTV6 und nur etwa 800 auf das Sondermodell GTV6 Grand Prix, welches von Rayton Fissore mit einem speziellen Aerodynamik-Kit, Dekorstreifen und Spezial-Alufelgen versehen wurde.

Der hier angebotene Alfa Romeo GTV6 2.5 Grand Prix ist ein Schweizer Fahrzeug und befindet sich in ausserordentlich schönem Sammlerzustand.
Abgaswartungsdokument und Serviceheft vorhanden und sauber geführt. Original Betriebsanleitung, Verkaufsprospekt aus der Zeit und diverse Unterlagen vorhanden.
Im Jahre 2020 wurde die Kupplung ersetzt.
