Return of the Dandy

You might be surprised by the fanciful picture Simon de Burton has of you, our readers. Well, okay, only a very few of our readers – those indefinably confident types who have the right to be called a ‘dandy’ – but you can tell from his article that his admiration for such types borders on awe.

Simon imagines that, right now, you are having this read out to you by a beautiful maiden, while you recline on a chaise longue dressed in salmon pink velvet, nibbling on a silver forkful of marron glacé. Are you? And to think I’d pictured you sitting at a desk, or scanning this on a smartphone. How dull of me.
