Snapshot, 1977: Bianca Jagger's birthday

Riding a white horse, Bianca Jagger proved she was the queen of the New York glamour scene when she arrived at Studio 54 in May 1977...

Mick Jagger's wife was far more than just a disco star: even as a teenager, Bianca Pérez Morena de Macías rebelled against the former regime in her home country of Nicaragua, and at 16 she began to study politics in Paris. In 1970 she met Rolling Stones frontman Mick Jagger after a concert - and less than a year later they married in St. Tropez.

The queen of New York

She became a central figure in the New York jet set of the 1970s - Andy Warhol was a close friend, and Steve Rubell and Ian Schrager, the creators of the legendary Studio 54 nightclub, allowed Jagger to celebrate her birthday in May 1977 by riding a white horse across the dance floor. The images are legendary and helped to make Bianca Jagger famous as a glamorous icon who danced the nights away alongside David Bowie and other A-list celebrities. Today, Jagger uses her fame in her work for such organisations as Amnesty International and the World Future Council.
