1100 Millecento: Miami apartments by Pininfarina and Carlos Ott

Not content with having some of the most sublime cars ever made in its portfolio, Pininfarina is also establishing itself in the world of interior design – recently collaborating with famous architect Carlos Ott to fit out the luxury apartments of a new Miami residential building.

Pininfarina was commissioned to deck out the innards of 382 luxury condos across 40 floors of the new Italo-themed tower – fittingly named '1100 Millecento' – which will dominate the skyline of Miami’s Brickell district. In each of the development's apartments, exotic woods, Italian leathers and imported stone will abound; meanwhile, automotive-related artworks and sculptures will furnish the common areas, having been procured by Ott and Pininfarina.

This treatment will extend from the ‘PiniCaffé’ on street level up to the exclusive ‘Cielo Club’ on the 43rd floor – the latter boasting private cabanas and an infinity pool, with a dramatic view over the city skyline and nearby Biscayne Bay. Apartments have floor-to-ceiling windows and glass railings on their terraces to make the most of the view.

Pininfarina’s ‘Extra’ arm – responsible for its forays into non-automotive design – seems to be well into its stride now, having contributed towards works inside the Juventus stadium in recent times. Ott is as respected in the field of architecture as Pininfarina is in the automotive; his past projects include the headquarters of the National Bank of Dubai and the Opéra de la Bastille in Paris, among numerous others.
