Rolls-Royce Ghost Series II: A spiritual re-awakening

Even spectral beings must move with the times. At the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, Rolls-Royce has revealed its subtly refreshed Ghost saloon…

Having floated at the top of the €200,000+ class since its launch, the Ghost has undergone a light design refresh along with a technology update, as opposed to a full ground-up redesign. Re-sculpted headlights lead the changes at the front end, while a tapered ‘wake channel’ – said to represent a jet’s vapour trail or the wake of a luxury yacht – emanates from the illuminated Spirit of Ecstasy. Elsewhere, its surfaces have been re-shaped with the intention of giving the car a more dynamic, purposeful stance.

Inside, the Ghost’s revised technology specification “ensures it is an oasis of calm in a busy, connected world where he or she can do business in peace.” On-board wi-fi keeps occupants in touch with the outside world, to which the Satellite Aided Transmission also adapts. Lastly, the optional Bespoke Audio is said to be “the most exhaustively engineered and finest audio system in automotive history.” We’re sure the spirits of Beethoven et al would approve.
