The building has only been open for six weeks or so, having had an extensive re-fit, yet Julien Sumner (Sales Director) reports much interest both from those ‘in the know’, as well as passing trade and the internet (via Classic Driver and Landmark’s own, just-launched website).
Sumner’s extensive experience in the motor trade is augmented by that of Chairman Jeffrey Pattinson, a name synonymous with classic cars over the past 35 years. The focus of the new business is on top-end classics such as the Hooper-bodied Bentley S2 Continental, Ferrari ‘Daytona’ Spider and Aston Martin V8 Volante you see here.
In addition, you might see newer high-performance cars such as the Ferrari F40 in the showroom. As Pattinson says, “We’re in the business of selling really driveable collectors’ cars, classic or more modern.”
The 22,000 square feet building is immaculately finished, and complementing the classic cars are posters and prints, collectibles and motorcycles. The latter are one of Pattinson’s favourites, “real works of art, almost sculptures”, he said. There’s also a cinema where clubs and invited guests can hold film evenings, and a coffee bar for those just calling by.
And for those that do, parking is a cinch, as the showroom has an underground car park. Just turn in to Devonshire Road and the entrance is immediately on your left. A merry toot and hey presto!, the roller shutter will rise for you.
