We have the pleasure of presenting a wonderful 1967 Jaguar E-Type series 1. This car not only looks the part but also has wonderful provenance and its original engine. In other words, this is a matching numbers car. The first owner ordered the car from the Jaguar dealership in Brussels. He ordered the car in an Opalescent Gun Metal finish. However, the car actually came with an Opalescent Silver Grey finish instead! The owner most definitely did not want a silver car. The dealer had no other option than to commission a full respray. Eventually, the choice was made for the timeless classic “Old English White”. In the documentation folder that comes with the car, we can read e-mail correspondence between the son of the first owner and the last owner. The son of the first owner also happened to be the E-Type’s second owner. In this exchange, he indicated he still had photos at home which shows that in 1967 the car had a white finish. Whilst the accompanying certificate states that the car came in Opalescent Silver Grey, it really was a white car all its life. The car’s first owner was clearly delighted with his choice. He kept the car until 1979 when he gave it to his son, who in turn kept it until 2016. The car was meticulously maintained during the whole of her life, meaning it has never really needed to be fully restored. The first owner mainly used the car during the weekend and when taking part in touring jaunts. The car has always
been kept in a heated garage and has seen action over half the planet. The first owner bought and sold companies all over the place necessitating various places of abode. He took the car from Belgium to the States, then on to South Africa, the Netherlands, Spain and finally back to the Netherlands. The son made a vow to keep the car in the same good condition it had as when he received it from his father. He believed religiously in preventative maintenance, which he kept up until the very last of his possession. Just before he sold the car in 2016, he had the transmission overhauled with new synchromesh rings. He also provided the engine with new crankshaft bearings and rod bearings. It is no wonder this car runs as good as it looks. The previous owner bought the car from us in 2016 and has been as diligent with its maintenance as the previous owners had been. Over the last few years over € 5,600 has been spent on mainly preventative maintenance. The 4.2 straight-six, therefore, runs fantastically well The car steers delightfully, brakes like no other and shifts through the gears with light precision. The fine bodywork has nice and thin, original panelwork. The paintwork has been well looked after with only minimal signs of use. The chromed wire wheels are also in good shape and shod in good quality tyres. The interior is completely original. That is mainly due to the fact that every quarter the first two owners treated the leather with special Connolly leather grease. It will not come as too much of a shock to hear that the grease was ordered in substantial quantities from an English supplier. The effect of all this good work can still be appreciated today with the leather still being delightfully supple. This Jaguar E-Type is truly in a complete ready-to-go condition. It also has the most wonderful amount of documentation, with many invoices as well as the earlier mentioned correspondence, the British Heritage Museum certificate declaring it a matching numbers vehicle and the original car wallet. This is, without doubt, a lovely Jaguar E-Type with a fantastic provenance and in excellent shape! Gallery Aaldering is Europe’s leading Classic Cars specialist since 1975!
