Description
The Mercedes 190 SL was an affordable alternative to the Iconic 300SL roadster, featuring the same fully independent suspension, front double wishbones, even the engine was a derivative of the 3litre 6-cylinder engine that powered the 300SL.
767 XPL underwent a comprehensive nut and bolt restoration in 2017, by the marque specialists Premium Classic Cars.
Besides the substantial invoices, which amount to nearly £200K the provenance includes MOT history and documentation, including detailed photographs covering the restoration.
The car has some nice upgrades including front discs brakes, and replacement of the Solex carburetors to Webber twin chokes (which needs less maintenance and improves throttle and engine responsiveness).
The Becker Radio with GPS Navigation with its sound bar, brings the entertainment system upto to date, but with the period look in keeping with the wonderful art deco interior that is such an iconic element of the Mercedes 190 SL.
767 XPL looks resplendent in its light grey exterior paintwork, with contrasting dark blue fabric roof and Poppy red interior.
This UK right hand drive Mercedes 190 SL is one of 500 cars produced, of which it is estimated that only 250 examples exist.
