Description

1957 MGA 1500 ROADSTER
Châssis 28845
Carte grise Française de Collection

Since 1945 and the immediate post-war period, the T-series MGs have left their mark on a whole generation of young enthusiasts and enjoyed immense commercial success. Although they evolved over the years, by the mid-1950s their overall style was already out of fashion. The company with the octagon reacted, and in 1955, at the Le Mans 24 Hours, two MG “barquettes” with special bodywork, called EX 182 prototypes, took the start. A few months later, these cars were offered in a customer version: the MGA was born.
The name MGA symbolically marked a break with the past: it was the first MG with completely new lines. The car's design was nothing short of magical: a genuine road-legal racing car. Its resolutely modern styling relegated the T-series MGs to the status of antiques overnight. The engine is a 1500cc OHV twin carburettor engine, which owes nothing to the famous XPAG block.
The model on offer is a 1957 roadster that has been in the same owner's possession for some twenty years. It is in generally good condition, bearing witness to an early restoration, although we have no supporting invoices. Recently restarted, this MGA is in good working order. However, a service is recommended before contemplating a long journey behind the wheel.
