Catawiki - Exclusive Classic Car Auction - 24th February 2019

“Take a seat,” says Sébastien Crubilé as he swings the metallic silver Porsche 917’s featherlight door upwards and ushers me into the tiny leather-strewn interior. We’ve been at Crubilé Sport for just a few minutes, but before I know it, I’m cocooned inside the special car and Sébastien is gesturing emotively and taking photos.

HELD DURING THE RENOWNED RÉTROMOBILE WEEK
RM Sotheby's begins its 2019 European calendar in spectacular fashion with a return to Paris, 6 February, for its sixth annual sale during the world-famous Rétromobile show week. Held at the historic Place Vauban, the stunning grounds offer the perfect setting to present the finest sports, racing, and touring cars from both pre- and post-war periods.
The car-collecting world showed up in force in Paris in 2018. The company achieved a gross sales total of €23,745,225 with 83 percent of the 84 lots successfully sold. Demonstrating continued interest in low-production modern-era hypercars, the 2017 Bugatti Chiron was the night's top seller, achieving an incredible €3,323,750, while a 2005 Maserati MC12, one of just 50 ever built, took second billing at a final €2,001,875. Proving that blue-chip post-war classics also remain very much in demand, the beautiful and remarkably original 1958 BMW 507 Roadster Series II rounded out the top three, realizing €1,776,875.
Consignments close mid-December. If you're interested in consigning a vehicle to the Paris sale, please contact one of our knowledgeable Car Specialists, e-mail us, or call us on +44 (0) 20 7851 7070.
