Description

The famous blue and white Rothmans racing cars were legendary on the Le Mans circuit in the 1960s - 1970s. The Rothmans Racing team distinguished itself with the legendary Porsche 917. The bodies painted in the colours blue and white were popular all over the world and form the basis for this 'one of a kind' unique Volkswagen T1 edition: "LE MANS" Samba van.

And what a beauty this Volkswagen T1 is. The basis is the well-known Volkswagen T1 van from 1973, converted into a Samba van with the well-known roof windows and sliding roof. This original VW T1 from Brazil has been fully restored in Brazil and painted in four-tone Rothmans racing colours. It is not an original Samba but a beautiful replica.

The van has been completely repainted in the magical colour combination blue / white with red / gold striping. Much attention has been paid to details, such as a matching dashboard and rims with chrome trim. The chassis, axles and doors have also been painted in colour.

This T1 has the well-known air-cooled 1500-cc engine with 4 cylinders. The engine runs well, the transmission shifts fine.

The interior has been fully reupholstered: new curtains, headlining, side panels, new seats, sun visors, and of course, the sliding (folding) roof that can be opened. The chairs are truly upholstered beautifully in a combination of white faux leather on the sides and beige seats. The front windows are the well-known pop open Samba windows, or can be folded open. Even the pop out side windows (known from the Samba model) have been installed. A new, original chrome-plated Volkswagen logo on the front, roof racks with VW logo and the original VW hubcaps with chrome trim make this T1 van a real eye-catcher.

This van was imported from Brazil and still has a Brazilian registration. All import duties have been paid and naturally, the customs documents and registration papers are included. We would like to point out that this T1 was restored in Brazil: such a restoration is of less quality than a European restoration. I usually advise to take into account 10% additional costs (estimate) for final adjustments, admission tests, replacement of the Brazilian headlights / headlamps for European versions, etc.

The van is located in Delden, the Netherlands, you are welcome to come and view it in advance. The van needs to be picked up within 14 days after the auction is closed. I am happy to help you arrange transport, indicative prices for Europe are displayed at the auction. The van is sold 'as is, where is'. This is a private sale, warranty does not apply. This Classic Car is for sale on Catawiki. To have more information or to place a bid click on the "BID NOW" button.
