Description

Transmission: 4 gears, Manual gearbox
Model year: 2021
Registration number: VW-18-25

We have a rather nice 1972 “Super Beetle”. The car was built according to 1973 specifications. The front windscreen is larger and the air-filter that was normally housed in an oil bath has been replaced by a paper air-filter housed in a synthetic compartment. The Super Beetle has a longer wheelbase and a more powerful engine. The boot space is larger thanks to the use of McPherson struts instead of previously fitted front axle.

This ones Karmann bodywork is exemplary. It has a lovely grey finish. The hood is in excellent condition and shuts securely. For sunny days a tonneau cover forms part of the smart looking itinerary. The car has the well-known “snowflake” rims adding a modern hint to this Beetle. The quality of the correctly sized rubber is of a good standard.

Inside the fine looking beige vinyl upholstery and grey carpets are in a very good state. Gauges and controls look great and are in good working order. The original radio as well as a very nice four-spoke steering wheel and wooden gear knob embossed with the Wolfsburg logo make a fine addition to the cockpit. A dashboard sticker explains the gear change pattern clearly.

This Super Beetle has a 1.3 litre 4-cylinder boxer engine coupled to a manual 4-speed gearbox. The McPherson struts have the advantage of reducing the turning circle compared to the standard Beetle.

It also means the ride is smoother and according to Beetle experts this is one of the Beetles to drive.

The brakes and the rest of mechanicals have been very well cared for over the years and provide a fine ride. We ought to mention the typical sound the boxer engine makes is incomparable, making every trip memorable.

This Beetle comes with its original owner’s manual and is ready for the next old-timer season. Whether your trip is local or happens to be a couple of days tour to the Alps, your loyal Beetle is a fine companion, especially with the roof down!
