The Volkswagen Beetle is possibly the only car to have beaten the production record of the Ford Model T, with some 16.5-million examples produced. This car was a real phenomenon, with amazing sales figures in the US for a European model. The car evolved considerably between the early 1,131cc versions and the last 1,584cc cars, but the spirit remained the same.
The example in the Monégasque collection is original in more ways than one. Firstly, it is the sought-after Karmann cabriolet version, capable of seating four people in comfort. It is also one of the rare models to feature an automatic gearbox, with an identical gear lever to the manual version. Finally, our collector wanted a reliable and individual car for family trips to Larvotto.
