Synonymous with bespoke engineering, exquisite execution, and ultimate performance for more than 50 years, RUF Automobile GmbH crossed a milestone in 2004 with the introduction of the new Rt12 model. Although still based upon Porsche’s 997-generation 911 platform, the model represented the first to be otherwise constructed entirely in-house by RUF. Five years later, the Rt12 S arrived. An additional 200 cc took capacity of the flat-six up to 3.8 litres.
This particular example is documented to have been retained by RUF when new. After being registered for the road on 7 March 2008, the Pfaffenhausen company kept the car until December 2010. The car had been built to Rt12 specification but on leaving the ownership of RUF, it was noted as an Rt12 ‘S’, as listed on its accompanying RUF Certificate of Authenticity. The car was configured with four-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission, further refined with ceramic brakes, an integrated roll cage, aluminium doors, 19-inch wheels, and a carbon fibre engine cover and rear wing. After being enjoyed by its first private owner in Germany, the RUF went on to form part of an important collection elsewhere in Europe, later returning to Germany. At the time of cataloguing, the odometer read 40,217 kilometres.
Accompanied by its service book and a RUF Certificate of Authenticity, this remains arguably the high watermark of Porsche 911-derived design and would form a fitting centrepiece for any significant performance car collection.
